Allison Rieff is an award-winning filmmaker drawn to social issues such as the maternal health crisis and broader public health challenges. Currently, she is a Documentary Features Producer for Alabama Public Television, where her work celebrates the resilience of Alabamians and delves into the complex issues affecting their daily lives. Before joining APT, she served as a production assistant and researcher at Firelight Films, as well as an archival producer for PBS's upcoming "Diaries of the Prosecution."

Her debut feature, "Bloom," a documentary exploring doulas’ role amidst the maternal health crisis, premiered at the RiverRun International Film Festival and won Best Documentary Feature at Longleaf in 2024. "Bloom" will also be screening at the 30th annual Cucalorus Film Festival this November.

Allison holds a degree in Film from Vassar College and an MFA in Documentary Film from Wake Forest University. She puts way too much butter on her popcorn and has a secret passion for romantic comedies. When she's not at her desk, you can find her at home catching up on “The Bear.” On quieter days she writes about film and television on her blog, wondering why a fourth "Bridget Jones" movie ever needed to happen.
